International missions

Solidarity knows no borders.

From Galați to communities affected by war and disasters, UVSAR AID turns operational experience into medical, humanitarian, and rescue support.

Responsibility beyond borders

We respond where the need is real

UVSAR AID’s international missions bring together three dimensions of the same responsibility: supporting people forced to leave their homes, humanitarian and medical intervention in conflict-affected areas, and participation in search and rescue operations after major disasters. Every activity is built around needs identified in the field and cooperation with local institutions, emergency services, and partner organizations. For us, international cooperation is not a public-relations exercise, but a way to bring resources, skills, and solidarity where they can have a concrete impact.

Galați, Romania

Support for Ukrainian refugees

After the outbreak of the war, Galați became an important transit and support point for Ukrainian citizens arriving in Romania. In partnership with Dunărea de Jos University of Galați and World Vision Romania, UVSAR members helped assist more than 8,000 refugees, providing responses adapted to constantly changing needs.

The work included medical assistance, the distribution of food and hygiene products, guidance toward available resources, and practical support during periods marked by uncertainty, exhaustion, and vulnerability. The response was not limited to providing goods; it involved a constant presence, needs assessment, and cooperation among volunteers, medical staff, the university, and partner organizations.

This experience demonstrated the Galați community’s ability to build a coordinated response rapidly and became the starting point for the organization’s broader involvement in supporting Ukraine.

Ucraina

More than 20 humanitarian missions

Missions in Ukraine combined the transport and distribution of aid with medical and educational activities. UVSAR teams worked in challenging contexts where access to resources, service continuity, and staff safety could change rapidly as the situation evolved.

Each deployment was prepared according to received requests and available transport capacity. Aid included food, hygiene products, medical materials and equipment, and other goods required by partner institutions and communities.

A response built around needs

Humanitarian aid, medical assistance, and training

Experience in Ukraine confirmed that an effective response requires more than delivering resources: it requires continuity, relationships built on trust, and the transfer of skills.

Logistics and humanitarian aid

The collection, sorting, transport, and distribution of goods were organized according to partner requests and needs identified locally. Teams worked to ensure that available resources reached recipients in a useful and manageable form.

Medical assistance

Members of the organization completed four assistance sessions alongside emergency services, working in hospitals and on ambulances. Activities were adapted to the roles, qualifications, and needs established together with local structures.

Training for critical situations

More than ten training sessions focused on developing self-rescue and trauma first-aid skills. Emphasis was placed on responses applicable in difficult conditions and the effective use of available resources.

Türkiye, February 2023

Response after the devastating earthquakes

After the earthquakes that struck southern Türkiye and northern Syria, UVSAR rescuers deployed to the disaster area to take part in operations alongside Turkish teams and partners. The work took place in an unstable environment marked by extensive destruction, aftershocks, and the need for strict coordination among the teams present.

Members of the organization were integrated into search and rescue and operational support activities within the limits of available qualifications and resources. Cooperation with Turkish rescuers, including NAK partners, enabled working procedures to be aligned and adapted to field requirements.

The mission in Türkiye was one of the organization’s most demanding operational experiences and confirmed the importance of technical training, discipline, team safety, and partnerships developed before a disaster occurs.

Respect for affected communities

We respond responsibly, preserving the dignity of the people we support and avoiding the use of their vulnerability as a communication tool.

Cooperation with local structures

Every mission is more effective when it complements existing mechanisms and responds to requests validated in the field.

Learning and interoperability

Every international activity develops relationships, procedures, and skills that can reduce response time in future missions.

Building international bridges

Shared experience. Faster response.

UVSAR AID seeks to develop international partnerships that expand the organization’s expertise and create real cooperation mechanisms before a crisis occurs. Relationships built in Ukraine and Türkiye, experience gained through missions, and knowledge exchange with external partners help strengthen a network capable of mobilizing the right resources more quickly. For us, every completed mission should leave behind not only the aid provided, but also a stronger capacity to respond together next time.
